Mary Anne DalyMy uncle was a Real Estate broker, my father was in finance and my mother is a nurse. If Queen of the Loan seems too lofty a title, I’ve been called “The Florence Nightingale of real estate finance” too.

My career in Real Estate started when I was 17 years old working in resort realty in Maryland. I was licensed there at the age of 18 and continued working in real estate through college. To this day, I still use what I learned when I was fresh out of high school working in that bustling real estate office in Ocean City, Maryland. I met my husband of 25 years in Maryland, moved to California in 1986 and worked in the music industry on his major label projects and for the Rolling Stones' and Michael Jackson's entertainment law firm in Los Angeles until going back into real estate in the mortgage industry in 2003. We’ve lived in Mill Valley since 1993 and are raising our two sons here.

When we wanted to refinance our home in 2002, my husband and I asked two successful business-owner friends to recommend mortgage brokers to assist us in our own refinance. Neither broker lived up to their promises.  After rescinding one of the loans and being saddled with a prepayment penalty on the other, I said to my husband: “There must be room in that industry for people who simply do what they say they will.” Thus my mortgage career was born.

Since then I’m continually discovering how rewarding it is to provide value to people in all kinds of situations, from the first time homebuyer who didn’t think they could afford a home, to the owner of a triplex who thought he could not afford to buy out his partner, as well as the credit challenged borrower who bought a home with seller financing or the divorcing partner seeking advice about buying out his ex spouse. Analyzing and offering guidance that changes lives for the better is the most important part of my work.

In the Spring of 2008, I became aware of the need for loan modifications through one of my tax advisors and undertook a survey of the new and constantly shifting modification world. It became clear that many people would need this assistance and I took over Trusted Mortgage Pro in September 2008. We helped many homeowners lower their payments from hundreds to thousands of dollars monthly.  Since the passage of SB94 I now refer homeowners to my handpicked trusted attorneys and I continue to network with the top professionals in that field to ensure up-to-date advice for any homeowner who comes to me as a trusted source. I’m proud of the work I’ve been able to do on their behalf.

It’s an understatement to say that the mortgage world has changed so much in the last few years. My husband George and I created my music video to “virtually” introduce folks to the Queen of the Loan while putting a smile on your face. I get to sing in the video, something I also do in my bluegrass band Strange Creek. These challenging times call for a “cents of humor”.
